Who should take this course?
Freediving is about inward power, discipline and control. If you’ve always wanted to enter the underwater world quietly, on your own terms, staying as long as your breath allows, then freediving is for you. Taking the PADI Freediver course is your first step toward discovering why freediving is becoming a popular way to explore beneath the waves.
Torpedo Rays is proud to team up with Apnecity to bring you this course. ApneaCity is the first AIDA (Association internationale pour le développement de l’apnée) and PADI school in Canada and the only AIDA school in the greater Montreal region. ApneaCity is recognized by the Canadian national association, AIDA Canada and was founded by two passionate freedivers, Philippe Beauchamp and Francois Leduc, both trained and certified by one of the world’s best known freedivers, William Winram.
To enroll in the PADI Freediver course you must be at least 15 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving or freediving is required.
What will you learn?

Winter Freediving Courses
Durring the winter we will contnue to run full courses, but the ocean dives won't run until the water is warm enough to do ocean diving. Usually this means July, though some years it's earlier. For now all winter course ocean dives are scheduled for the weekend of July 17/18. Those dates may change, based on weather and student counts. You can start now, train with the Halifax Freediving Club over the winter and complete your ocean dives in the summer! It works really well.
